The 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards Ceremony airs this Sunday, February 12th and we couldn’t be more excited to put both hands over our ears and close our eyes while yelling “la la la la I can’t hear you!”
Album of the year contenders pit Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Adele’s 25 against each other, tip the hat to the new wave of country music with Sturgill Simpson, and throw in Drake and Justin Bieber into the mix for fun.
There is, of course, the Best New Artist category that includes shot ripping music duo Chainsmokers, Anderson “everything I touch turns to gold” Paak, and the always lovely and inspiring Chance the Rapper. OH! and two other pop stars whose names I can’t remember.
How can you avoid exploding at the screen when the Chainsmokers win in this category? Don’t worry we have a proper fix.
Announced just yesterday from the Warner Music, our guitar-shredding knight in purple armor, Prince (may he rest in peace) has his Warner Bros. catalog — which include the epochal classics 1999, Purple Rain, Dirty Mind, and Sign o' the Times — hitting streaming services the night of the awards ceremony.
Perhaps a dig at the outdated ceremony? We will never be sure but one thing is certain this writer will be blasting “Purple Rain” through his streaming service of choice followed by Anderson Paak and Chance the Rapper.
Happy Grammy week everyone. Stay safe out there.
